Gas defeats Electricity
Jay Saganski
Over a hundred years ago there were more electric cars than gas cars, what happened? In 1996 there was a large quantity of electric cars that began to appear all over the roads of California. They were safe, quiet, fast, produced no exhaust and ran with no gasoline. These facts are what every person wants to hear about their car.
These fabulous cars could have created a much better world and a much stronger future. Our one question is, Who Killed the Electric Car? My main believe is that the Oil companies are to blame for this massive tragedy that corrupted all believers of this beautiful car. Many thought the electric car were defeated by people, the US government and even local companies, but the truth is the oil companies could not stand seeing their oil not being used. They could not undergo seeing consumers buying these electric cars. This is what leads me to my next statement.
Electric cars could have easily over run gas powered cars very quickly. The oil companies needed a way to bring down this car and they found a way. The oil companies found out that the money used to make these electric cars was from the government. The oil companies figured that the electric car companies got that money to build these cars from us people. The builders of the electric car were using the government’s money and that money is from us people’s federal income taxes. So basically the government had no reason to fight back. The electric car had no control over their own company. As of today there is no information and no factories that can produce any more electric cars. The oil companies completely cleared out everything to do with those beautiful cars.
The economic world was dealing with an American affordable, fast, quiet car. This car was every persons dream. Just imagine the world today not walking up to that gas pump and “filling up”. It’s sad that almost all of America preferred the electric car over the gas car and yet we didn’t get it our way.
Creating a renewable car is a dream that did come true. It was truly an environmental friend that could have easily affected our world in numerous ways.
